The most beautiful coastal front in Europe
The restored 3.5 km coastal zone, and the new one-kilometer free public beach, will be a landmark feature and a large-scale attraction of Hellinikon.
The proposed plan aims to have something for everyone! New attractions, such as an aquarium, lively public spaces and a vibrant residential area will be created; existing green spaces and churches will be preserved; and to encourage a people-friendly safe environment the coastal front promenade will be a car free pedestrian zone, where pedestrians and bicyclists could move freely and safely throughout the entire coastal road network.
In addition to the new free public beach, where visitors could enjoy an array of activities, cafes and restaurants, a number of impressive new landmarks, with outstanding architectural design features, will also adorn the refurbished coast.
A new aquarium will be built at the end of the new beach where the Metropolitan Park meets the waterfront. A symbol of the Hellinikon Project’s sustainable agenda, the aquarium will lead the charge in educational excellence on precious marine life and oceanic health for the city of Athens and Greece.
The beachfront Marina Residential Tower, with sweeping views of the Metropolitan Park and the Athenian Riviera, will complement the new coastal landscape.
The Integrated Resort, a 5-star boutique hotel at the eastern end of the marina, and the spectacular 6-star Marina Exclusive Hotel located in front of the new contemporary marina, will offer high-end amenities and services, and various restaurants and shopping experiences to attract visitors from all over the world.
Moving towards the northern part of the site, a small harbor and low-density contemporary residential developments are planned that will stretch to the borders of the Metropolitan Park.
All areas will be connected by the central 2.5-kilometre Promenade, extending from the Metropolitan Park to the end of the waterfront.
